It has very beautiful and characteristic veins, and it is also common to have dark spots in random spots.
It is a light brown wood, which must be taken into account when choosing the paint (Sun Bursts tend to look dark on this wood).

-----  Mogno  -----
Mahogany / Mogno Brasileiro

Weight:
ST Body: Between 2,2Kg and 2,9Kg (4,8lb and 6,3lb)

Wood that is easy to sand and even carve, as it is homogeneous in most cases. When planed or sanded, its surface becomes smooth, with small and constant open pores.
Maded very famous by Gibson.

-----  Tauari  -----
Tauari Branco

Weight:
ST Body: Between 2,4Kg and 2,9Kg (5,2lb and 6,3lb)

Light wood with some visible veins and patterns, excellent for dyeing any color.
Moderate density, similar to Mahogany. Recommended for bodies with weight relief.

-----  Ash  -----
Wood imported from North America. Mainly known for being used, like Alder, in Fender instruments throughout history.
It is generally found in two subspecies, known as Hard Ash, and Swamp Ash:

Hard Ash
White Ash / Freixo

Weight:
ST Body: Between 2,5Kg and 3,3Kg (5,5lb and 7,2lb)

Wood:
Very beautiful and prominent veins, they look good with any type of paint.
Hard Ash usually comes to Brazil through importers who bring the wood for use in other purposes, so it is widely used in most national Ash instruments, as it is easier to obtain and cheaper than Swamp Ash.

Swamp Ash
Freixo

Weight:
ST Body: Around 1,7Kg (3,7lb)

Wood:
Aesthetically similar to Hard Ash, but generally less dense.
A smaller and much less abundant tree. It is gradually becoming less used by manufacturers, due to its scarcity and constantly increasing prices.
In addition, to build instruments, it is necessary to import blocks separately, which, together with shipping and import taxes, make the wood much more expensive.

-----  Alder  -----
Amieiro

Weight:
ST Body: Between 1,5Kg and 2,5Kg (3,3lb and 5,5lb)

Wood:
Simple wood, quite uniform and without visible grains in most cases. Widely used in Fender instruments, hence its fame.
Just like Swamp Ash, a wood that ends up being quite expensive in Brazil, and can only be obtained by importing parts directly from North America.

-----  Cedro Rosa  -----

Weight:
ST Body: Between 1,5Kg and 2,5Kg (3,3lb and 5,5lb)

Wood:
This wood is very common in Brazilian lutherie, in the bodies and necks of older guitars and acoustic guitars.
Some pieces even look very similar to classic Mahogany.
After finishing, it takes on a brown color, losing any pinkish tone of the wood.

-----  Cedro Gaúcho  -----
Cedro Uruguaio / Cedro Vermelho

Weight:
ST Body: Between 1,8Kg and 2,3Kg (3,9lb and 5,0lb)

Madeira:
It is very similar to Mahogany, in some cases to the point of being difficult to distinguish. However, it still has the unmistakable smell of Cedar, very similar to that of Pink Cedar. It is also lighter compared to Mahogany and does not have white spots throughout the wood. It has veins with very open pores, facilitating open pore finishes as is often done with Ash.

 -----   Marupá   -----
Caixeta / Caxeta

Weight:
ST Body: Around 1,7Kg (3,7lb)

Wood:
Medium to light weight wood, smooth and with small and constant pores, such as Cedro Rosa and Mahogany.
Homogeneous and easy to work. Another traditional wood in Brazilian luthiery.

-----   Paulownia  -----
Paulownia / Kiri Japonês

Weight:
ST Body: Around 1,3Kg (2,8lb)

Wood:
Its main advantage is undoubtedly its weight, perhaps the lightest wood used in guitars.
The best option for instruments where comfort is a priority.
It facilitates translucent paintings, as it is light and has beautiful veins, somewhat reminiscent of Ash.
This wood does not support the pivots of tremolo bridges, such as Floyds for example, making it necessary to inserta denser wood in the tremolo studs location.

-----   Maple  -----
Ácer / Hard Maple

Weight:
ST Body: Around 1,3Kg (6,8lb)

Wood:
Smooth and dense. No open pores. Very easy to paint.
Most common on necks, fingerboards and tops. But not on solid bodies, due to the weight.
